Flower Longhorn Beetle

If you use a little imagination, you may be able to see a resemblance between longhorn beetles and the much larger variety of longhorns, longhorn cattle that is. Maybe that is asking a bit much of the imagination, but the antennae of the insects do extend out in front like the horns of the bulls so often associated with Texas, cowboys and large ranches. Carpet Beetle

Carpet beetles generally go unnoticed until they enter homes and make a general pest of themselves.

The adult bugs are stuffed-looking creatures with oval to nearly round bodies and legs that are more brownish than black. They range in body length from around a tenth of an inch to nearly an eighth of an inch. Their bodies are covered in scales that vary in color from white to brown and yellow, with irregular black cross bands. Their bottom sides are covered with grey-yellow scales. Read more »

Click Beetles

Some click beetles can capture your attention with their large size and colorful exterior, but do not be mislead because these species are not the norm. The majority of the bugs are quite the opposite, small to medium in size and dull. Read more »

Given the name, you might think that the giraffe weevil is a very large insect, but that is not the case. The name says more about the relative length of the bugs neck than about its height or body weight. Read more »
