How to Kill Wasps: What to Do Before You Panic

Because of the number of people allergic to wasp stings, the sight of wasps, in general, cause alarm. Sometimes, people eliminate wasps without really thinking about the gravity of the situations. Wasps are actually very useful insects. They kill agricultural pests and even houseflies. Before you think about how to kill wasps, you should consider these things.

The location of the nest. Unless the nest is located in a high traffic area and it poses as a risk to people passing by that area, you should not kill the wasp. Wasps die naturally, anyway, as autumn approaches. Spare them that can of insecticide and let the colony live through its natural life cycle. They’re actually doing your garden a lot of good without you knowing about it. Besides, wasps won’t attack you unless you appear as a threat to them first.

The type of wasp. You also have to consider the species of wasp you’re looking at. Do your homework first because although wasps generally look threatening, some were born to scare humans more than they’re meant to actually make the attack. If they’re a harmless breed, and the nest is located in a discreet area you can ignore till fall, leave them alone.

Is it already fall? Wasps die once it’s autumn. If you want to kill wasps, you should kill them in June when they’re less likely to fight back. If you found the wasp’s net in autumn, there’s a huge chance that you’re looking at a full grown army. If they’re likely to die anyway as fall reaches its peak, just let nature do its job.

Are you allergic to wasp sting? If the nest is in an area which is used as a passage way of a lot of people but you’re allergic to wasp sting, don’t do the job yourself. Call a professional to get rid of the wasp nest for you. The labor may cost some money but at least you’re not putting your life at risk.
